A bit distant in time, but always very close to our conscience and our heart are the actions and struggles developed for the conquest of 8 hours and left in its wake the celebration of International Workers Day.
Gone too-and perhaps into oblivion, many of which take place in our country throughout the twentieth century, and which serve to affirm the role of unions in moments of national life .
Ella-national life has placed us, however, before a new scenario that will have fundamental impact on the commemoration of May 1 in our country.
After many years, indeed in Peru opens a new perspective on social change. She will be cleared in final form June 5, but is said already in the everyday events as responding to a specific situation in which the forces of progress and development generously beat the ruling class, its exponents and their spokesmen election shift.
Actually, this would be the fourth time that Peruvian workers living on the verge of a dramatic change that will significantly influence their struggles but, above all in the perspective of development.
Earlier in 1945 we had the experience of the National Democratic Front, which went down mainly due to the immaturity of the movement and the weakness of grassroots organizations called to say the change. Then came the 1968 military experience that, under the leadership of General Juan Velasco Alvarado, had a remarkable impact on our history. She workers, led by the CGTP vigorously played an honorable role which increased its authority and influence in the country.
Broken imperialist process, by the treachery of some military commanders and the lack of unity and cohesion of our people was the emergence of the United Left which brought the country to new hope. Factionalism, warlordism and several narrow spirit of party structures of the Peruvian left, put paid to this significant movement and this also led to frustrate the possibility of advancing the popular movement.
Today things have gone differently and workers appears a new possibility of progress. It can be said here that the aurora that is designed in the eyes of Peruvians, is the natural sequence of a long dark night.
In the new era, unions may place a significant role on the condition that they can exercise their power, consolidate their discipline and moral reach of producers we spoke José Carlos Mariategui.
The predictable wins Peru election victory will not be easy. Nor would it be lawful workers not think about the possibility of benefiting from it, without requiring that they share basic sacrifice that have always made at critical steps in our history. Unions-matrix of the class and crucial link in his most defined-must play a leading role in these weeks leading up to the victory of June 5. And that happens to gain citizenship and firmly confront the panic attack triggered by the reaction through the most various procedures.
No victory achieved without workers find it hard to obtain. So now required to put in tension all the social arsenal available to defeat the Mafia and reach all the people, a conclusive election victory in the day ahead. To this effect, the union, unity and struggle of working class consciousness that they show, are critical tools that will allow to deal a blow to the reaction and open the channel for the changes that the country demands.
And, in fact, the struggle of the workers could not - never could-restricted to the workforce and claiming. It has always projected, by the nature of the trade union movement, the whole society, so that their demands have become flesh and blood of the peoples in the national liberation struggle.
why it has always said that the union struggle essentially responds to a conception of class. That is, class politics in complementary and added the immediate interests of workers with the historic demands of our movement.
